(Here is another idea for a poem that quite literally came to me out of nowhere yesterday afternoon.  It’s only the first stanza, but my intent is to draw upon it and perhaps come up with something epic in length.  I hope you enjoy it.)

If you ask where I’ve been

I’ll tell you I’ve been fighting a war

My wan complexion and thousand-yard stare

Speak for themselves

Though not a veteran in the traditional sense

I’ve been engaged in dubious battle

With myself

As both ally and enemy.
